  • Sad News, Paloma Larramendi

Patrick O’Malley sent word that our old friend Paloma Larramendi died recently at home.  She started taking recorder lessons from him 20 years ago, and was long a member of the Chicago chapter.

The family plans a memorial service at the Music Institute of Chicago on Friday, August 26 at 4 PM, in Nichols Concert Hall, with a light reception in the lobby to follow. You would be welcome to bring your instruments.  The family would like to have some recorder music to honor Paloma’s passing.

Patrick will provide music to participants in advance, so let him know if you are coming and plan to play by emailing him at pomalley@musicinst.org. You don’t need to RSVP if you don’t plan to play; he will provide an optional rehearsal at the Music Institute on Friday August 19 at 4 PM.

The Music Institute of Chicago is at 1490 Chicago Avenue in Evanston. Note that the MIC is an easy walk from both the Purple line L Stop at Davis Street and the Davis Street Metra station.

If you are interested in playing, please email Patrick. That will help him to choose music.  Please forward to any recorder players who might have known Paloma outside of MIC.
