American Recorder Society 2017 Spring Workshop:
Presented by Anne Timberlake
Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 9 AM TO 4:30 PM
Covenant Presbyterian Church, fellowship hall, 2012 West Dickens, Chicago, Illinois
The Chicago Chapter of the ARS is delighted to announce that Anne Timberlake is directing our 2017 workshop. We will start with drills in articulation. Articulation is what gives your recorder playing color, shape, and meaning. We’ll brush up on how, where, and why to articulate while answering the vital questions that keep you up at night: Why all these consonants? What is triple tonguing? How do I pair notes and why would I want to?
Then, we will move on to the theme—Bad Boys. Does character count? Can you be both tuneful and badly behaved? We’ll sample the music of spies, lechers, debtors, drunkards, murderers, and cranks. It’s malfeasance through the ages! Bring your instruments, music stand, pencil and enthusiasm!
